The biggest benefit of purchasing plastic pipes is cost savings. Overall, plastic costs less to produce than copper and other metals. Plastic pipes are also less expensive to transport because they weigh significantly less than metal pipes. Thus, the end price of installing plastic pipes is significantly less than installing copper. One type of plastic piping is polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is used for cold water supply, drain, and vent pipes. A second type, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), is used for hot water supply because of its special heat-resistant properties.

There are many advantages to tankless water heaters. They are way more efficient, endless hot water, and they take up less space. They are more expensive than the basic tank heaters, but they pay for themselves in the long run. Tankless heaters only heat the water when you turn the hot side on at your faucet or shower. It doesn’t constantly heat up like a tank heater does. This makes it more efficient. They never run out of hot water because it’s based on a rate of flow. Tankless heaters are the way to go nowadays.

Being a new construction plumbing company, Plumbing Solutions experiences a lot when it comes to home plumbing systems. We currently do a large amount of slab homes. Also known as patio homes. These are the homes where there is no crawlspace. The home is built on a concrete slab. The plumbing is actually installed under the slab. The drain is in the dirt under the home. Before the concrete is poured, we come out and dig out a trench that falls down hill from each drain in the house, the same way they are in a crawlspace. I know it sounds a little scary, but don’t worry. The drain is tested thoroughly before any concrete is poured.

Plumbing Solutions deals with all sorts of problems every day. Everything from clogged drains to repiping a house. One thing we see a lot of are faucet repairs. Over time, the faucets in our homes tend to go through wear and tear. The inside of your faucet has stems that can sometimes collect dirt and trash. Also, the washers inside the stems are under constant pressure and if one were to break or become faulty, it could cause it to not cut off all the way, or a dripping faucet.

Leaking Water Heaters can be be a disaster. The leak can further damage the water heater, the surrounding surface area, and structure of the home.
Generally you will be faced with two types of water heater leaks. Either the plumbing connections have failed and are leaking or the water heater tank itself is leaking.
Water heater tank leaks can be costly because you will need a new water heater. However, more costly than the leak is ignoring the leak. If the water heater is leaking it wont be long before the tank could fail and cause major water damage.
More commonly are leaks no the plumbing connections. In this case a plumber can quickly repair the connections in order to prevent further harm.
Be sure if you ever cut your water off to your water heater you also cut the electric breaker off. Running electricity to a water heater with no water will damage the elements and could cause a fire. Use the same precaution with gas to prevent pressure build up. If the tank will not be in use, cut your electric or gas supply off until a licensed plumber arrives.
