Making Your Bathroom, YOUR Bathroom Pt.3-Choosing Between Tile and Fiberglass Showers/Tubs
Choosing Between Tile and Fiberglass Showers/Tubs
Tile
Tile offers endless possibilities for color, design and shape. The downside is that it’s more expensive and more complicated to install. Also, the grout joints can be a pain to clean once mildew sets in.
Fiberglass
Fiberglass is easy to clean, it has a modern look and it can be less expensive than tile. Also, it takes less time to install (installation can be tricky – you must get the correct fit and ensure it’s sealed properly, otherwise you could find yourself with a very expensive bill to repair the damage from seeping water – but this is also true for tile). The negative is that the pre-fab models sold in most home stores are pretty limited as far as sizes, styles and colors available. If you want something that’s not available in the pre-fab models, you’ll have to spend a bit more money for a customized surround.
