CPVC

pvc-pipe-4
Advantages of  CPVC Pipe

  • Easy to Install – CPVC pressure pipe and fittings are lightweight – approximately one-half the weight of aluminum and one-sixth the weight of steel – reducing transportation, handling, and installation costs. They have smooth seamless interior walls. They require no special tools for cutting, and are installed with solvent cementing.
  • Chemical Resistance – CPVC pressure pipe and fittings are inert to attack by a wide variety of strong acids, alkalies, salt solutions, alcohols, and many other chemicals. They are dependable in corrosive applications and impart no tastes or odors to materials carried in them. They do not react with materials carried, nor act as a catalyst.
  • Strength – CPVC pipe and fittings are highly resilient, tough and durable products that have high-tensile and high-impact strength. They withstand high pressure for long periods.
  • Fire Resistance – CPVC pressure pipe and fittings are self-extinguishing, and do not support combustion. They have an ASTM E84 flame-spread rate of 25 or less.
  • Internal Corrosion Resistance – CPVC pipe and fittings resist chemical attack by most acids, alkalies, salts, and organic media such as alcohols and aliphatic hydrocarbons, within certain limits of temperature and pressure.
  • External Corrosion Resistance – Industrial fumes, humidity, salt water, weather, atmospheric, or underground conditions – regardless of soil type or moisture – cannot harm CPVC pressure pipe and fittings. Scratches or surface abrasions do not provide points which corrosive elements can attack.
  • Immunity to Galvanic or Electrolytic Attack – CPVC pipe and fittings are immune to galvanic or electrolytic action. They can be used underground, underwater, in the presence of metals, and can be connected to metals.
  • Freedom from Toxicity, Odors, Tastes – CPVC pressure pipe and fittings systems are non-toxic, odorless, and tasteless. The National Sanitation Foundation lists them for use with drinking water.
  • Low Friction Loss – The smooth interior surfaces of CPVC pipe and fittings assure low friction loss and high flow rate. Because PVC and CPVC pipe and fittings do not rust, pit, scale, or corrode, the high flow rate continues for the life of the piping system.
  • Low Thermal Conductivity – CPVC pressure pipe and fittings have a much lower thermal conductivity factor than metal pipe. This ensures that fluids maintain a more constant temperature. In most cases, pipe insulation is not required.
  • Low Installation Cost – The many advantages of CPVC  pipe and fittings ensure a lower installed cost than for other piping systems.
  • Maintenance-free – CPVC pressure pipe and fittings systems do not rust, pit, scale, corrode, or promote build-up on the system interior. Years of trouble-free service can be expected.

Pex

Advantages of PEX Plumbing

  • Flexible PEX tube is manufactured by extrusion, and shipped and stored on spools, where rigid plastic or metal piping must be cut to some practical length for shipping and storage. This leads to several advantages, including lower shipping and handling costs due to decreased weight and improved storage options.
  • PEX plumbing installations require fewer fittings than rigid piping. The flexible tubing can turn 90 degree corners without the need for elbow fittings, and PEX tubing unrolled from spools can be installed in long runs without the need for coupling fittings.
  • Attaching PEX tube to fittings does not require soldering, and so eliminates the health hazards involved with lead-based solder and acid fluxes; PEX is also safer to install since a torch is not needed to make connections..
  • PEX resists the scale build-up common with copper pipe, and does not pit or corrode when exposed to acidic water.
  • PEX is much more resistant to freeze-breakage than copper or rigid plastic pipe.
  • PEX tubing does not transfer heat as readily as copper, and so conserves energy.
  • Water flows more quietly through PEX tube, and the characteristic “water hammer” noise of copper pipe systems is virtually eliminated.
  • PEX plumbing installations cost less because:
    • PEX is less expensive than copper pipe.
    • Less time is spent running pipe and installing fittings than with rigid pipe systems.
    • Installing fewer fittings reduces the chances for expensive callbacks.
